Old Fashioned Oatmeal (Grandma)

Old Fashioned
2 c old fashioned oats or thick cut rolled oats
4 3/4 c water
Pinch of salt

1. Combined the oats, water, and salt in slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 7-9 hours.

Steel Cut
1 c steel cut oats
4 c water

1. Combine the oats and water in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 8-9 hours.

Variation
1 c steel cut oats
3/4 c dried cherries or cranberries
1/3 c dried apricots
4 1/2 c water
1/2 c half and half/evaporated milk

1. Combine all ingredients, and cook on LOW, covered for 8-9 hours.
